Edgworth WI meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm.

We meet at the Barlow, Bolton Road, Edgworth.BL7 0AP.

Edgworth WI has been established for more than 50 years. We have aproximately 50 plus members.

Each month we have a visiting speaker. This year our speakers have talked to us on a variety of topics. In June we had a talk on the work of the forensic scientist and we learned that their job is nothing like that portrayed on the T.V.

In August we had a visit from Search Dogs UK, a small dog charity who are sent around the world, wherever there is a disaster to search for injured persons.

At our November meeting we had a selection of artefacts to study and work out what they were used for.

December is our party month when we are entertained,eat festive food and chat to our friends. It is a lovely way to end our WI year.

At each meeting there is always a hot drink and a cake. Each month there is a raffle.

We enjoy visits out and this year we have been to the Lowry to see War Horse  and to Liverpool to see the Terracotta Warriers.

Those of us who are interested in horticulture went to see the gardens at Harlow Carr. More local visits have been to local theatre productions at Walmsley and Bolton Little Theatre.

There is a knit and natter group that meets at the Barlow each Tuesday between 1.15 and 3.15. This is not exclusively for WI members but it gives us the chance to improve our knitting skills.

We join together with other local WI's at Group Meetings. Some of us attend National Meetings, this year we went to Cardiff.

In Septermber we enter items at our County Show including preserves, knitting, art work and horticulture to name but a few.

Each year we provide a meal and entertainment for the Over 80's in our community.

Edgwoth WI is what you make of it and the Committee always try and accomodate everyone's wishes.

So if you want to join like-minded women come and join us. You will make friends and learn something I promise you.
